Privacy policy

Tidemark is made by Lunch Time Surf LLC, a California limited liability company based in Santa Cruz ("we"). This policy covers the Tidemark app for Wear OS.

What Tidemark stores

When you record a session, Tidemark saves the GPS track, the detected waves and the session totals on your watch. That data does not leave the watch. Uninstalling the app deletes it.

Tidemark also remembers the spot you last picked and keeps the most recent forecast for each spot you viewed, on the watch.

What Tidemark sends

To show conditions, the watch requests data for the selected spot:

• Tide predictions from NOAA at api.tidesandcurrents.noaa.gov, identified by the NOAA tide station for the spot.
• Wave, swell, water temperature and wind forecasts from Open-Meteo at open-meteo.com, identified by the spot's coordinates.

These requests carry the spot's fixed coordinates or station id, not your own GPS position. NOAA and Open-Meteo see your network's IP address, as with any web request. Their own privacy policies apply to that.

Surfline links

When you tap a wave's cam timestamp, Tidemark asks your paired phone to open the spot's page on surfline.com. From there you are using Surfline's site or app under Surfline's terms and privacy policy. Tidemark does not sign in to Surfline, read your Surfline account, or send your sessions to Surfline.

Sending cam links

When you tap Send cam links on a session, Tidemark opens a page on this site on your phone. The session's summary and its Surfline links travel inside the link, after the #, which browsers do not send to any server, including this one. From there you choose whether and where to share it.

What Tidemark does not do

• No accounts.
• No analytics or tracking SDKs.
• No ads.
• No selling or sharing of your data.

Permissions

Location is used in two places, both on the watch. While a session records, the GPS track builds the session and detects waves. When you open the app, one location fix picks the spot you are standing at and sorts the spot list by distance; that fix is not stored or sent anywhere. Notifications show the ongoing session so you can get back to it from the watch face.
